Listings without a remote share

34% of the listings name no remote share at all. Many of them mention remote work only vaguely ("remote possible", "partly remote"), which we do not count as a share. When a listing says nothing, ask before applying – the answer decides whether a project in another city is an option at all.

Hybrid work: on-site days per week

Some listings name the days on site per week, with or without a percentage – 31% of all listings. The most frequent answer is "0 days – fully remote"; among hybrid listings it is "1 day on site".

Remote share by developer role

How remote a project is depends on what is built. The most remote role is Low-Code Platform Developer (57%), the least remote PLC / Automation Programmer (15%) – the share in brackets is the fully remote share of the role's projects that state a share. The chart shows all 16 roles with enough data; below each name, how many of the role's projects state a share at all.

Remote share by city: Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and more

Finding remote projects: how to use the data

  1. Of the projects that state a share, 39% are fully remote and 54% mix remote and on-site work. If you only want remote work, search for it explicitly – on the projects page a search such as "react remote" shows projects with at least 80% remote.
  2. For hybrid projects, the on-site days matter more than the percentage: one day a week in a city two hours away is a different project than three days.
  3. If a listing says nothing, ask early. Clients often accept more remote work than the listing shows.

Projectmatch matches new projects against your profile automatically, shows the driving distance from your home, and can hide projects whose weekly travel exceeds your limit. Try it now.

Method

An AI model reads each project description and records the remote share only when the description states it explicitly – "80% remote", "4 days remote, 1 day on site" – never from vague wording. Where the description states nothing, a share entered in the board's own remote field counts as stated; a 0% in that field does not, because an unfilled field shows 0% too. The on-site days come from the same reading of the description.

The figures start in July 2026, since when every project has been read this way, and refer to the projects first listed in a month. The roles are those of the developer-roles analysis; roles and cities with fewer than 100 projects stating a share are left out. Spelling variants of a city, such as "Frankfurt a.M." and "Frankfurt am Main", are merged. The figures are updated every month.
